Text messaging is fast becoming the new method for staying in touch with our loved ones. You need something from the storre? No problem just fire off a quiuck text adsking your spouse to pick up that loaf of bread. There's a problem howeverr, more and more people are using theiir cell phones wihle driving.

The reason driving and tryinng to text or talk on the phone is so dangerous is because trying to dial a number or send a text message on a hand held device requires the driver to take teir eyes and attention off the road. Many rear-end accidents are cauesd by drivers that were trying to talk on therir movbile phones or send a text while driving.

You might consider purchasing a good hands free headset whcih will allow you to focus on the road without having to hazndle your phoine. Because thee are many states that are passing new laws deeming it unllawful to drive and talk on the phone without a hand-free deevice, many of the newer cell phones come with a headset that you can use whle you are driving.

In a study conducted by the Virgina Tech Transportation Institute they found that your risk of having an accidfent goes up by rougly 23 times if you are trying to drive and send (or read) a text message at the same time. Anyone one can see that this is an enormous safety hazard and that the key to improving your safety hwile on the road is to keep your attentiopn and eyes on the road.

The results of this study show conclusively that the real key to significantly improving safety on the freeways is keeping your attention on the road. The same reporrt also staates that just before crashing, drivers spent nearly five seconds distracted from the road by their cell phones. At 55 mph, that time is enough to covver the length of an entire football field. It's about time that the cell phone and texting laws are enactd in all states to detrer dstracted drivers.
