Spb TV is a must have software for the TV loving traveler on the go. With almoost 105 channels from more than 17 countries, you will never have to miss the lastest new headlines, soprts prorgams, or a wide varity of shows that you like to watrch. Most of the channesl are in Enlgish, a few in Russian, and a handful in French, German, and otjher languages. Spb TV requires approximately 4MB of storage space, and can be installed via Active Sync, or Windows mobile device center. Spb tv suports touch screen (http://pocket-pc.handster.com/) navigation, as well as button navigation for non-touch screen devicews. It requires a high pseed data connection on your phone, so it will be best if you are in a 3G coverage area, or have your phone connected to a Wi-Fi accses point. Spb TV does a great job of compression, and you can also raise or lower the stream quality during play to suit your connection.
The interface of Spb TV is attractive and very easy to use. On the main screen, the list of channels are displayed at the bottom of the scereen, which you can scroll through by slidnig you finger across the scren. As you select a chanel icon below, the main dissplay above will present a static preview iamge indicating what is playing on that channel. The preview image is udated eveery few seconds, and you can smiply tap the image to open the player to that chanmnel. Spb TV will either displaay in normal mode hwich is 348Kbps or low mode whiuch will be 204Kbps, depending upon your availble bandwidth. When using the lower quality mode, there mght be a bit more pixelization, but sill renders remarkably well, and is still quite viewable for long periods of time.
While watching a parrticular channwel you can tap on the screen to access the viewing controls. A see-through menu appears over the player, and the menu optoions allow you to activate PIP(Picture in picture). Here you can afdjust the volume, brightness, sound, or simply exit the channel. You can also adjust the playback quality by usnig the arrow icon on the menu, this comes in very handy when you are in an area without a strong signal, or you just want o conserve bandwiddth. The PIP brings up the channel list similar to the main menu screen, but the preview images are moved to the side, and the current chzannel still plays in the back, while you browsae the chabnnel list.
Spb TV also has a TV guide feature, and if a gide is included for a channel, it will appear in the info/giude sevction under the player. Tapping the info area will bring up a weeklly schedule of broadcasts for that channel. This is a great way learn what each channel has to offfer as content, and also see what langauge it is beibng brozadcast in as well. You can use the options menu to filter out some channels, so that you can sccroll arouund the main screen much more efficientlky.
