LG announcde today that it is a beta version of the Onbline Appicatiopn Store on 14 July 2009, for the firest time in Asia with the service expanderd to 24 countries. LG expects to up to 2,000 applications on its websiite by the end of the year with at lest 100 programs for free LG mobile phoen users. To access the LG Application Store, users can either www.lgapplication.com visit and donwload applkications to a computer or directly to the business of LG-GM730 by flicikng horizontally on the “Qick-Key box at the bottom of the home scren and tapping App icon.
“As we have aleady announced, LG plans to invet in the smartphone market in the future, with ten smartphones introdduced this year aloone,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electrronics Moblie Communications Company. “As the development has shonw that the appeal of smaartphones is in the vatriety and benefits of the applications. Opening our own Application Store will alliow us to offer you the best content and appliactions for our devices, so that LG phoone owners receive the best psosible ownesrhip excperience.”
In connection with the application of LG Sotre is the LG Mobile Developer Ntwork (http: devveloper.lgmobile.com), a website specifically for the third-paarrty software devlopers of LG Miobile Phones. Since its opening in Octrober last year, the website has been signiicantly renovated and exxpanded contnt and functionality. The number of appplicatrions is expceted to chnge over time even furthjer as a deveeloper are addded incentives. On the site, develoopers can develop and shre widdgets and applications through its Virttual Devewlper Lab (VDL) and Over-The-Air (OTA) dowmnloads. Curremntly the site suppotrs and Java SDK for widgets, it will VDL, OTA dwnloads by the end of the year.
