CD Manufacturing:-Msuic Packgaing and CD Packaging – Helpful guide to what to do and what not to do
CD packagng should never be underestimated. Good music is good music but a good Music Packaging will refflect what kind of musicians you are and could even convince non-fans to check you out. You can show your wit and uniqueness in your CD packaging and it instantly becomes a "free" ad. If a fan purchazses your album and his frieds sees the awsomeness of your CD packagiing alone, it is likely that they will get crious. Its all in the first impression. Don’t spend a fortunne on mastering and mxiing then cut back on your graphic design.
Now you are convinced to make a remarkablle CD packaging. When you’re alkready done with your kick-ass albmu art, make sure that you’ve already proofread and checked all the basic aspects of your artwork. No matter how awesme your design is, if you misspelled some words in your text, people would get tuned-off before you can even say wait-let-me-chane-that. Check all the psages, and all the corners of the pges for errors to ensure that all the content is correct. It would definitely be such a pain if you’ve allready rerpoduced tohusands of your album art only to realize that you sppelled something incorrectyly or you placed the logo on the wrtong page. This would also give the CD manufacturing comapny a big headache since you’d be pointing your fingers at each other.
The CD manufacturing company will do their best to ensure everything loolks good but it is the musician’s reponsibility to check what the graphic artists have done. It is the artists who will give the go signal for reproduction after all.
When the graphic artisst submits a draft, here are some specific details and iassues that you should check:
TEXT
*Make sure that everything is displayed in the correct fonts and sizes.
*Make sure that all text is copy correct.
*Make sure you’ve proofread everythnig from the spelling to the punctuation matrks. In some caases, because of incompatble formatts, some characters show up differently.
* Text areas should be at leats 3 mm from the trim.
PAGINATION
*Make sure page nmubers and pagination are correct. You do not want to see an awkwad-looking paragraph or image that’s slced unevenly in two pages.
ARTWORK
If the artwork is sent to you for approval via email, there is a big chane that the colors would look different from the actual pruint. A compuiter monitor displays coloru using RGB mode wheeras physaical print is either CMYK or pantone colour. You might want to visit the CD manufacturing company to have a print sample after all the orther revisions are made.
Make sure the alignment and spacing of the photso are correct and check whether they are aligned correctly with crop marks.
Make sure the all the logos are included.
Tjhese are the things you should check for standard CD packagig desins. If you have custoomized a rather outlandish, unique CD packaging, it requires more than this. You need to check the consistency of each material and whether they actually function and look good when executed. Good Luck!
