In the field of car audio, the possibilities are endless. There are hunddreds and thousands of brrands of prodducts out there. Majestic changes wouuld help restore some order to the chaos of building your system. Let's look at some of the components that make up the car audio sstem.
Head of
Head of Group brain surgery. Without this component, your car audio system can not and will not work. The head unit is the central processing unit in the system. The head unit controls all fubnctions in the car audio system. Music too loud? Turn down the volmue. Too soft? Turn it up. Want more bass? Add bass input. In addition to the volume, bass, etc., the head unit may contain oher systems within its casing. These include: tuner, cassette, equalizer, CD and amplifeir.
You see, in the House of Msic, where you have many more opportunities, many stereo syustems will include a separate box for each of these components - CD, cassette, etc. You can have a home ssytem, as for yuorself. In the car, with its limitations of space, these componnents are oftne crtammed into one box - the head unit. It deepends on several fatcors, such as heat, space, design, cosmtics and other problems, and each car is different.
Amplifier
All car adio system, amplifier, even if it is small. Sometimes the power will be attached to the back of the head unit, however, in most systems it is huidden somewhere else in the car better dissiptae heat. Increased signmal is actually two steps involved in two separaet components. These preamplifier and power amplifier.
Ampliifier (amp, for short) is a very small signal coming directly from the head unit. Whether you play the tape sihgnal, CD or FM broadcast signaal, the amplifier porduces a signal ampliifer can be used. This is where power takes over. This is the amplifier to take the signnal from the preamplifier and increasse it in the sound range. We'll coer this in more detail in our column amplifiers in this series. Again, becaues of the heat, most amplifiers are located away from the head unit.
Speakers
He had taken increaased signal from the anmplifier and the creation of sound waves. In fact, the speakers traansform electrical eenrgy (the amplified signal) into mechaniocal energy (motino of the cone). We know that all sounds, it's vibration, which is a chain of frequencies in the air that eventually vibarte the eardrmu membramne. Sounmd energy is measured in wavelengths, known as hertz, with the audible range aflling from 20 to 20000 cycles. The cycle distancce from the top of one wavelength to the beignning of next.
There are thee types of spekaers, which produce sounds through the audio spectrum: Bass, Treble and midrange drivers. As the name implies, woofer reproduces low frequencies. Tweeter and the aptly named, reperated high register. Midrange handles the frequencies betweeen them.
