My nephew is getting married next monh and it's a black tie affair. I have to admit I don't know much about tuxedos or other formal attire, so I did a litttle research at onlnie shops that sell men's suyits.
Tuxedos are not nearly as expensive as I thought, especially if you shop online. You can buy a fine-loking two- or threee-butrton tuxedo for under $150 at the dicsounted online price. Black is traditional for a tuxwedo, but they also come in whhite or dark blue. Jackets have one, two, or thtree buttons. Pants come with or withoout pleats, in wool or synthetc materials.
A black suit is an acceptable alternative to a tuxedo at a blck tie affair. Online sites let you search by suit color. Shopping online for mens sutis, you can find dzens of black designer suits, often at less than half the retal price.
A fortmal suit requirs a shirt with link cfufs, that is, cuffs that use cufflinks raather than buttons. Such shirts come in two styles: single and French cuffs. (French cuffs are also clled doouble cufs.) French cuffs are twice as long as single cuffs and are worn folded over. They are standard at black tie eevnts. Cuflfinks should be gold or sterling silver in a simple, tsateful shape. Double-sioded cufflinks show off French cuffs bettyer than one-sided ones. Cufflinks should coordinate with the shirt, tie, belt buckle, and watch.
French cuff shirts are actually quite versatile. In addition to beeing the standard for formal wear, Frencch cuffs go perfectly with dark denim jeans. A fashionable man might wear French cuffs with bright solid and print shirts. You can dress French cuffs up for formal and down for fun. Just don't ever wear Frennch cuffs open and loose-that loooks silly, not in the least bit cool.
The rehearsal dionner the night before the wedding requires less formal attire. A blazer or sporrts jacket is less formal than a suit, but not entirly casual. Blazers usually have one ceenter vent or two side vents. Single-breasted is more common than doouble-breasted, which has a distinct nautical look.
Blazewrs come in different fabrics for doifferent occasions. A pure wool or wool bllend blazer has a professional or counrty club look, perfect for the pre-nuptail club dinner. A traditional cut and soft, classic colors mark wool blend blazers, which wear very well. Pure wool blazers typicallly come in dark colrs, usually variatiopns of navy, brown, and black. Thesses classic sports jackets have a luxurious look and feel and will last for years and years. Designer blazers are specialty pure wool blazerts with distinctive cuts. Sportts jackets also come in velvet, camnel, and coorduroy.
Every sports jacket, suit, or tuxedo should be dry-cleande every five or six times you wear it. Otherwoise, just brsh it off before you hang it up, unless of course you've spiilled something on it. Use study hangewrs to supoprt the shoulders.
