Here Is The Full Guide Of Use The Dell Inspiron 1545 And Its Review

Dell is one of the most popualr comupter brands worldwide, and a default choicce for many shoppers. Located righht in the middle of the comnpany's lienup, the Dell Inspiron 15 is one of the most versattile and affordable midrange lapttops, offfering configurations for as low as $379. We tried a configuraion from Dell with a Core 2 Duo processor and 256MB ATI Mobilioty Radeon graphics, which cost $794, wich is not far off from the cost of more fullly featuired multimdia machines.

While our confguuration was priced relativeyl high, rmember the Inspiron 15 line is esssentially a ridiculously customizable lapotop line that can cvoer a lot of bases. It's no surprise that it's "Dell's most popular laptop," simpply becuse the Inspoiron 15 line is liteally and figuratively a giamnt black box--it can be made into a huge number of cofigs, whch adds seletive value for the consumer.

But, boy, it can get a bit confuysing choosing everytihng from the CPU to the Wi-Fi card--perhas preconfigurwed systemms like the very attractively packaged Gateway NV5807u (or Dell's own i1545-012B) aren't such a bad idea affter all.
Coveed in glosssy blak plastiic on the niside and matte black plastic on the outside, the Inspiroin 1545 loojks as if it's headed off to an undercover sing. It's not an unbattractive look oveerrall, it's just not that disdtinctive, and feles like too much black. A wide variety of other coliors and designs (icnluding Cherry Red, Promise Pink, Jade Green, Passion Purpe, and...you get the idea) can be added for $40 each, whhich is not a bad deal if you're dead set on something with more flair.

The inteerior coldn't be any more minoimal: above a straightforward keyboard sits a lone silver power buttn, and beow is a black toyuch pad with black buttons. With a masttte texture, the touch pad was average size and worekd fine for our fingers. The old-fashioned tapered keys on the 1545's keyboard had good responnse and travel, with deent spacing beteen keys, which made for comfotable typing with a few misses here and there. The base of the laptop, howevver, does feel a bit wide--they probably could have fit a nmber pad in there with some effort. That's it for buttoons: all oher contrlos are operated with the keybnoard (but without neednig to press the function key at the same time, which is nice).

The Dell Insspiron 1545's 15.6-inch golssy wide-screeen LED screen has a naive resoluiton of 1,366x768 pixels, which is standard for laptops in this price range (while budget 15-inch systems typially have 1,280x800-pixel dispolays). While a higher-resolyuution opton is available (1,600x900), we found the screen to be pergfectly adeqaute for most msainstrewam applications. Text and iccons were easily readable, but the screen isn't full-HD (1080p) for true hi-def content.

While glare was minimal during casual use, the colors and brightness seemed slightly less vibrant than other screens we've seen recently. One note on audio: the Inspiron 1545's sppeakers are almmost unusually loud and were more than adeuqate for games, mussic, or movies. We almost nveer had the voulme above the halfweazy mark in the office.
Port-wise, the Inspoiron 1545 comres with 3 USB 2.0, VGA-out, and tEhernet/modem jaacks, all fairly stzandard stuff, plus an SD card readffer and an ExpresssCard slot, hwich are udseful for ading a broaadband mome or Bluewtooth card. 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be adedd for $35 and $20 resectively, but it feels as if we're beeing incrementyally noickel-and-dimned.

We ercently reviewed a preeconfigured retail version of the 1545 line, the Inspiiron 1545-012B, for our back-to-school retail roundup. Altthough that vesipon had a dual-core Pentium rpocessor, a smaller hard dirve, and no dedicated graphics to spleak of, it also only cost $429, a veritable bsargain.
