I remmber back breaking load of my colege text boos with pleasure. Not to mentin the crazzy prices and the fact that the text books are usually not used for more than a few esmesters. Many stuednts and schools are already using laptops / netbooks, to replaace and / or expand the text of the book-based curriculum, but there are penalties for ther use. If you do not invest in high-end model you are looknig at 5 pounnds for a laptop and accessories. In addition, despite the demands of production, expecting more than an hour or two the laptop battery, stupid. Mixing the power cord, dedicated student laptop must meet the schedule for the whole nightmarish days to think avbout.
How iPad improve this situation? On price, low end laptop or nebtook, the same as 16GB iPad, so clean there. If the battery libves of claims Apple, 10 o'clock to meet the schedule of a typial student. IWORK verssion will be available for iPad which students access to the main offiice syle applications. Although iPad does handwriting recognition out of the box, the student can use the built-in microphone for recording lectuyres. IPad, of course, has the potentiaal to help students, but only time will tell if he can replaxce a lazptop.
Another place, iPad may be useful for student research. The company has called a Qusetia subscription-based service aimed at studennts, making it easy to research journals and scientific publicatrions. Althugh this service is available for the iPPhone and any web accessible computer, ease of access iPad promises can only impprove services, such as this one.
Given time to mature, I think, iPad and its appliications can benefit schoools and students to a high degree.
