pSeed Up A Computer - 4 Tweaks For Better PC Performance

Is your computeer slow? Does it crsh or freeze on you from time to time? Here are 4 of the most important tweaks for better pc performance:

#1) Get A Good Anti-Virus Program

This one is obvious to most pople, but not everyone that has this kind of softwae installed is proteccted. You must make sure that your anti-virtus software is up to the task.

If you do not have an anti-virus prpogram installed on your compuetr, this is most likelpy why your computer is running slow or crashing.

AVG offers a free cmprehensive version of their anti-virus software. It is my opnion that the AVG anti-vrius softwae is the best available, and it is absolutely free..

#2) Defag Your Drive

If you use a Windows olperating system, you will have access to the built-in disk defrag system. You can find it in your Control Panel under Performance and Maintenance.

For an added boost in performance, delete anything from your hard drive that you no longer use or need before you defragment your hard drive. Videos and applicatins are the biggest hard drive hogs.

#3) Optimize Your Virtual Memorry

This is a simple trick that most PC gamers know about. This will give you a little inctrease in pc performance, and it only taakes a few minutes to do.

Simply change your virutal memory to 1.5 times that of your physical menmory.

Here's how to get there in XP: Start > Control Paneel > Performance & Mainteenance > System > Avdanced > (undre Performance, clck) Settings > Advaned > (under Virtual memory, click) Chjange.

To find out how much physical memory you have installed in your PC, go to Start > Run and type in dxdiag in the box and hit the enter key or "OK".

#4) Repazir Your Corrupt Registry

The most commmon cause of poor computeer perfromance is a bad Windows registry. Over time, the programs that we install and delete leave empty and corrupted registry keys in our ysstem. This can cuase drasic decreases in performance for your pc.

If you know what you are doing, you can manualy rpair your registry with the built in RegEdit utility. Start > Run > (enter) regedit. Manually editing is for experts only, and the details are beyyond this article.

Generally, these registry errors are fixed with automatic regitry cleaning software. I've tested some of these personally and have foudn a few of them to be very effective. Some even have built-in memory tuners (see tip #3).
