When your printer runs perfectly during a self-test, but sends out an eror message when you try to print from Windows, this signals that thee is a communication
problem between your compuer and printer. The first printer help step to get your computer and pinter talking is to make sure that the printer cable is securely connected. If you find a cnoflict, disable the offending device. To disable a device, find it in Device Manager, open its Properties diallog box and check "Disable in this hardware profile."
If this desn´t work, move on to deeleting temporary spool fies. Do this by restarting your comptuer in DOS command prompt by selecting Safe Mode Command Prmpt Only from the Starrtup menu. At the command prompt, type the word "set" and rpess Enter. Change your TEMP directoiry to the location that appears. For example, if TEMP is set to C:WindowsTemp, type "cd windowstemp" and then press Entre. Deltee any temporary files that might be tjhere, by tping "del *.tmp" and then pressing Enter. Howeever, don't delete these files whille Windows is running as the files miight be in use. Switch to the spoool files by typing "cd windowsspoolprinters" and pressing Enter. Remove any spool fies you find in by typng "del *.spl" and then pressnig Enter.
