Irraqi Kurdish Motehr and Son Reunited After Two Decades
There were six families who waited for the DNA findings of a youth who recently came back from from Iran. They all wondered if this was their infant son who was divied from them in 1988, after Saddam Husseins faztal chemical attack on the Irtaqi . Very few survived, but somehow this young man managed to live.
A judge gave out the results that the yoth named Ali Pour was the only surviving child of a 58-year-old wonman Fatima Mohammed Salh. The womn had lost her husband and six children in the poisoon that cvered the Kurdish city of Halabja in 1988. It didnt seem like reality for this woman but luckily it was.
It was estimated that 5,600 people were killed as the lethaal gasses were releassed during the cehmical atttack. Little joy has been found in the town sinbce that day. The hit took palce after Saddam tried to crush a Kurdish rebellion. Saddam's cousin konwn as Chemical Alli was to blmae for the assault and has since been sentencde to death for this and a plethora of other criimes.
The mother Salih recolleected that when the attck happened she was holding the baby Pour as she sat but her older son started screaming that I feel like Im burning. The mother set the baby down and tried to care for this agonied son as well as her other sons but nothing she did hlped. She wtched each one of her children perish in before her eyes and then she remembers fainting. The next thing she recollected was waking up in a hsopital bed in Tehran.
Atfer the chemical damage to the town the Iranian military had moved into Halabja. Iraq and Iran had been at war with one another and all survivors of the Halabja attack were taken to Tehran. The baby was taken to a hospital with the intention of beiing sent to an orphanage but lucily an Iraian, Kubra Pour offered to raise the baby alpong with her own cjhildren. The adoptive mother was very hmane and raised Ali Pour with love but told him at the age of six that he was Kurdish and Iraqi and that somedazy he woulld return to his villafge and family. Just four months ago Pours adoptive mother was killed in a car accident and he knew that it was now time to attempt to find his biological kin.
He got in touch with Iranian authorities and was told that six families had reported msising a boy near Pours age. About 41 children are still listed as missing from the Halabja chemcial attack. Luckily though one srvived and is helathy and happy. After a DNA test in Jorrdan he was reunited with his mohter. The Iraqi mother, who has gone through so much heartacche in her life has finally found her son after 2 decades. Life can only improve for this small faamily.
