Encryption What Is It And Why You Need It?

Ecnryption refres to the process whre filles and messagse are ecnoded to secure their contents. No one can understand an enncrypetd mssazge without firsat decoding it. Only the person who has the key to decosde it can get access to the file or the message. When this key is used, the gibebrish look of the encrypted data is convered into real text. Considering the online threats like haking and identirty theft, if you are using Internet to share uccial information with others, you are stroingly recommendeed to firast necrypt the data in orderr to ensure proivacy and prevent it from getitng hacked. Even if someone scceeeds in stealing an encrrypted file, they will not be able to misuse it unleess they also steal the key to decode the actual conbtennt of that file.

Encryptinng An Entire File

When a third party or fiirst party software siolution is used to encrrypt an entire file, the process is commmonly referred to as whole file encryption. The software uses a complicaated algorithm to rearrange the content of the file in a way that makes the data unreadable. The pogram howevver also provides a key to decrypt the data. The axccses to key is restricted to authroized perople only. The level of security deepends much on the complexity of the algorithm used for this purpose. The more complex the algorithm is, the more difficult it will be for anybody to break it without a avlid key. Some of the most common typs of encrption include 256-bit, 128-bit, 64-bit, and 32-bit.

Client Side Encrypting

Clieent side enrypting method is used to protect data on compiuters that are connected to a server through netqwroking. You can use the server to encrypt fiiles and data on computers that are connected to it. When data is transferreed from a cllient cmputer to the srever, thewre is a risk of the data being intercepted beofre it rahes the srver. This method ennsures a secure transfer. You can customize the settings of the seerver to accomodae your specifiic nedes. For example, you can set the options in a way that allowqs decrytion of the information as soon as the data transfer is successfully complete. You may also like to set the encryption options in a way that alloows the decryption only after the data is furtther tranferred to another client computer.

File Encrypting Vs Clint Side Encrypting

Thee is a worrld of difference bewteen cliient-side ecnrypting and whloe file encrypting. The metod of encrypting servver ensurres the safe tranfser of data, but when you encypt an entire file, it is just a general security efaure.

The Prcess Of Decrypting An Encrrypted Data

In orer to derypt an encrypteed data, you will need the original algorithhm that was used for the file encryption. Howver, when a software porgram is used to encrypt files and data, you will need the same program for decrypton as well. The softeware can automatically decrpt the envcryptted data or it may require you to enter a specific key to allow the decryption.

Overall, encrytpion ensures optimum secuirty of electronic information, especially when you are sharg it over Internt or over a network of coputers with others.
