People often wonder is there a way to increase traffic, whilst others just presume that by creating a blog many people will visit it. In particular if a website designer has been paid to do the work.
If you work at gaining traffic and use the right techniques, you can get highly targeted visitors arriving at your blog. I have recently published a new blog and used some of the essential techniques and before it was even cached on the search engines, I had reached 40 visitors per day and several sign-ups to my newsletter.
So yes, you can build traffic and even with a new blog!
Step 1 - Preparation
The first step is to set up the site for the search engines. Be sure that there is sufficient original content there to attract their attention.
Step 2 - increase Links
Here I don't mean spammy link exchanges - they went out of the window years ago for having any effect! As a substitute, write some articles around your niche. It doesn't matter what you write about exactly, as long as it is fascinating and keeps the visitor's attention to the end.
Each reprint of the article gives you incoming links, which the search engines see as a sign of trust in your blog. Publish to the best article directories and these links carry numerous weight.
Articles will also start to increase your visitors as the readers jump across from the articles, to your blog. So the best way to work is often to prepare a batch of articles at first and release them all together. Once they have taken effect, and you should see your visitors going up straight after getting them approved, you then start trickle publishing more articles to keep your blog traffic ticking over.
Step 3 - Participate
Please, no spammy comments on other people's sites, but do go to blogs and leave sensible, constructive comments that add to the content and the flow of comments.
Your aim is not to stuff links into their comments, but in its place to write something interesting that tempts other readers to read more of what you have to say.
How a look through some sites that cover your niche and see who else is commenting. Read what they are saying, add your own reply and then visit some of the websites of the people who are also commenting.
Sensible comments are always appreciated by weblog owners - it is a sign that people are reading and enjoying your work. Daft comments are usually just deleted.
Step 4 - Buy Some Advertising
If you still want to build your traffic and it is not increasing quickly adequate, then it is time to go to Google, MSN and Yahoo and pay for some sponsored search engine placings.
Not the cheapest way to increase traffic and it is very short term. You pay for the clicks and there aren't really any long term benefits. But if you need traffic quickly to get the orders placed, this is where you should be looking.
