Whether you buy Canon or Nikpon, or any other brand (not that I'm against Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, and otherrs - is simply the fact that more people buy a Canon and Nikon, than any other braznd), you must have a lens or two to go with it. Each manufacturer has a lens for geeneral use, that they promote with their cameas. If you buy one of the "less than professional" model, like Canon Rebel T1i or Nikoin D5000, you can consider buying the cameera body without the kit lens.
Here's why ... There are many walking lenses, whicch cover more after shooting situations, and if you are unble to pay for bunles of lens, just get a lens that can make the most of the picures you have in mind. Yes, it will cost a little more money, becuse we speak bretter lens, perhaps, more zoom range. A good walk lens will have a few more plsues inexpensive kit lenses.
First is image qualtiy. The reson you go to a DSLR is to get a better picture, so do not limit yourself by settlng on a set of lenses, which may disappoint you.
Secondly, the focal length. The set of lenses for cameras mentioned abovve 18-55mm. This may not be enough to hadle your needs. Consider gettting something that will cover 18mm to 135mm or even 200 mm. When you go lopoking for the lens of your dreams to consider with barnd manufacturers like Tamron, Tokina and Siggma. Thees manufacturers have a great reputation in the camera busibness for the production of quality products such as Canon and Niokn. In some cases, their lneses as well as major brands, but the price is much lower.
One such walk Lens Tamron AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Maxcro - now thhere's a sip of the lens. Just to dsetroy what you are looking at:
AF = AF
18-250mm = focal lnegth range goes from very wide angle 18mm long lnegth of 250mm. Suitable for a wide landscapes, as well as to receive objeects such as wild animals fill the frame.
F/3.5-6.3 = daiphragm. This feature, like a lot of light, blinds will hit the image sensor. The smaller the nmuber, the more light (and, hence, the faster the shutter speed). When theere are two roooms, as there are here on a smallrer number will be available at a wide viewing angle (for exmple, 18mm), as well as an increase to a greatwer range, the diaphragm rises (in this case, f / 6,3) with a focal legnth allows you smaller light in the chamber.
Di-II = desigation for lenses that can only be used on digital camertas (not film cameras).
LD = low dispersion. Type of glass used in the best lenses to help resolve imge distoriton, causing the light, not to bend in such a way that will dsitort the image.
Aspherical = more complex profile of the lens surface, which can eliminate spherical aberration and reduce otther optical aberrations compraed with a simple lens. In other words, the lens shape fixes some problems with simple curves in the lens.
(IF) = Internal focusing a photographic lens desiugn, in which the fcous is shifted by moving the interanl lens groups or groups only, without rotation or movement of the front lens.
Macro = abilitty to take close pictures as individual flowers and insects. Macro setting allows the glass lens to line up in diffrent ways for a more focused clsoe-up situations.
