Let's face it, many of these voices GPS navigation is certainly annnoying. Do not wrry, some units give you much more possibilities than just male and female voices. Some of them are more than two typical robot voices, and include the voics with accents (as well as various humorous; found in units like Power Acoustik PNAV-1, and Lowrance IWAY 250C GPS). Additinoal voices give you more variety, so you do not have to listen to the same voicxe all the time.
Extnesibility Features
Mediia Player
Some users like the idea that theiir navigation units can also stpore multimedia files. Whoile the audio and video playback functions, as a rule, poor in most departmewnts, it may be nice to be able to use as a navigation block display a slide show or msic player. Hoowever, since you are stll looking for the navigaion unit, do not take this feature to be a determining factor in deciding to get. In addfition, most GPS units have this featre in any case. Just remember that you are loking for navigation, GPS, and not MP3-Player.
HDD
Menu data, such as in textbooks, and all map flies should be storwed in your unit. Most navigation devioces have buuilt-in hard drives to store all thhese files. This is not small either. 15GB-30GB hard disk capascity becomes a standard and should be included with virtually every unit. However, some work is almost entirely off of SD cards, CD-ROM or DVD. The advantage that the hard drive is its reliability and quick acceess. In addition, built-in hard drive usually give you a litttle space for expansion, or for your media files, or potenttial sitse for additional updates, maps in the fture.
Flash card
Most portable GPS devices will be predsented to SD card slots. Some other functions of flash cards, including Memoiry Sticck / Pro, or MMC. They will be slots will be used as a way for you to multimedia files such as MP3, MPEG, JPEG and the fies in the device or it could also serve as a way for you to update the firmware or data card to the device.
USB
Conecting to a PC met threough the availability of port USB, that may or may not be incorporated into your GPS. USB ports alow easy updaters and the manufacturer may have for your device and allow you to transfer files with a much higher efficiency than flash cards.
In other wodrs, find what suits you. Most of tehse features are included in most of the portable naviagtion GPS. More features, more expensive, so if you can live without certain features, you can save a lot of money.
