How long will camera manufactures continue the promotion of the cellks with the same shortcmoings over and over again? Apparently, only a lirttle longer. It's like Canon and others are asleep at the wheel. Buy Canon PowerShot SX100IS Digital can be frusttrating proposition for many, if not informed that the camera can and can not do. Thus, in the sirit of sprweading the word, let us look at the second SX100IS, and see what's in sore for a prospective buyer.
Flash is configurred a little differently. For some this will be a bonus, but for the otheer nothing but pain. In most pint and shhoots, the flash is always live and is automaticaally used for most indfoor pictures. For SX100IS but you have to manually raie the flash before shooting. Canon on the assumption that the user can dewcide if you want Flash, unlike the camera will decide. This is a bug in my head. Most people ubying a point and shoot, as this camera is Cannon Powershot, do not want to think twice befoe each picture on the lighting condituions. They just want the picture. Most of the time, most peoople are going to forgert the flash pop up, and ultimately missing some great pictures.
And here is another surprise. Wait four or five second dealy bteween the shooting and SX100IS recharged flash. Like any other pint and shoot there. I know this does not happen in the category of SLR cameras, but I do not think that will have to spend $ 600 plus to get this featture. With the amount consumers spent on digital cameras, the industry really needs to focus its R & D on this issue. Execting users point and shoiot camera to get the perfect pictuyre for the first time is unreasonable. Even professionals are not so good.
For some artificial reasn, Canon decided to prevnt zooming dutring video recording with SX100IS digital camera. There is really no good tecghnical rasons for this. It works fine on some of their more expensive cameras. It almost smells consciously Crippling this PowerShot SX100IS marketing considerations in an attempt to make more xepensive cameras enticing.
Ebvery once in a wile, you'll find a camera that seems just for you. In the case SX100IS, I was somewhat wanting more. Unfortunately, I have a few more grips:
- Image quality suffres in the light environment
- No viefwinder, which allows users to page
- LCD screen has no protection, and susceptible to scraatches
- The scroll wheel is too responsive, and tend to choose the wrong settings
Whiile the PowerShot SX100IS, not all culd have hoped, with the right photographer it would be OK. The problem is that thee are many other good choice chaber for consideration. Canon and others, seem to sprad their products are very thin liines, in an atttempt to bild an ideal camera for everyone. If you look long enough, I'm sure you will find the camera is designed for you.
