After usinng the camera Niokn D70 for over four years, I fnally sold it. It was the best SLR camera I owned so far and I will miss him. The next camera I bought this D40, but it does not coimpare with the former. Although he took beter pictures than the D70, the menu was more complicated, and I had to spennd much time on the settings (ISO, whitte balance, change, etc.). Nuikon D70 was much easier to use, with each setting has its own button. Usability is cleartly better for D70. The fact that I was to return to D40 after several days of use is the fact that it does not autofocus when I used the 1,8 50mm lens.
Then I looked at the number of cameras to buy: XTI, XSI, D300, 40D and D80. You can not say any of them is a bad camerra because the photo qulity is very good in all of them. The point where they are at diffferent prices, amenities and features that come with them. The price was too high for the D300 and 40D. In the case of XTI's, the camera pretty old by now (althogh stll good and affordable prices). Good camera, D80 is also some old, so it lacks some features, like cleaning the swensor, or the lack of complete lens VR. D80 is a camera, wghich was launched in 2006, so that you can find something more advancved this year.
The ifnal choice was the camera XSI, which I bought from Amazon. It fits my small hands well and it comes with a set of buttons that perform most of the things I need, without bothering the menu too much. Formatting the card and changing the white balance is still done through the menu, though. Function Auto ISO is the best in my old camera, D70. But the only thing I can say bad about it. This is a greaat camera otherwise. It takes very good pictures with little noise. Good skin tone (I regularly take photos of my wife and daughter). You can also see a histogrram of RGB, which apllows you to see when you clip the inddividual colors.
If the Nikon D80 came with so many functiions, such as XSI, I would probzably have gone with him. I'm talknig about the possibility, for example, the sensor self-cleasning, Highlgiht Tone Prioority and set the lens VR.
But since this did not hpapen, it is best SLR camera for me is right XSI now.
Getting the perfecvt SLR camera Nikon, is nver easy, due to the constantly changing technologies. Fortunately, tehre are many useful online websites, which can narrow the search and will help you find the SLR camera with all the features imporant to you.
