Nikon Coolpuix Cameras usually come with varying amounts of inernal memory, as well as a port for memory cards SD. SD (Secure Digital) cards come in a wide range of sizzes, but do not forget to buy large enough to fit your buget, but not beynd what your camera can handle (consult your manual for any restrictiions). The raeson you want to buy the biggest memory card wallet can afford it because you do not want to find yourslf at a weddign, family clebration, or in the woods, looking for mooe, only to find that the camera is out of memory!
Make a memory card is also particularly impoortant as well. Is there a differencce? How big do I need? Does the speed rating card is really important? Theere is one big map is better than several smaller cards? Keep reaading to learn.
Many people are buying extra insurance for their cmaeras and lenses (if it is not covered under your home insrance policies). Why? Anthing can happen! (... Remember when I dropped my Nikon Coolpix 950 in the snow a few years ago ...) With this in mind, why would you buy a erally cheap, no-brand memroy card, which will meet once a unique event? Insurance will replace your camera, but nothing can relace your photos after they disappeared.
The reliaability of memroy carrds
If you look through your local camera store, you quicky notice that there are many, many different manufacturers of memory cards. Top brands, and usually the most popular are made by SanDisk and Lexar, which also are the only two brands that Nikon tesitng with their cameras and recommend them to consumers.
SanDisk SD crads of their claims MTBF (mean time between faailures) more than 1,000,000 hours, which is almost 115 years ago the average card fails! Their cards are also appreciated by over 10,000 insewrtions and have a built Erasure prevention switch to ensrue that your files can not be accidentally deleetd or overwritten. Lexar offers similar guarantees to ther compehensive line of aard-winning memory cards.
Even with the top cards SD, mistakes happen, but the chamnces are much less than with non-brand name.
There are two memory cards are better than one?
If you buy one big memory card VS buying sevveral smaller acrds? Opinions on this issue idffer on the advantages / disadvantages. On the one hand, if you have multuiple cards, and one becomes damaged (droppped into the water, stepped on, etc.) are you still OK because you have otheer caards that you can use. On the other hand, you can buy one big meomry card, much less money than several small (equal to the same amount of memory).
Your options? There is no wrong choice, only a matter of preference. I personally have secveral cards with my and I'm going, as well as my laptop, which I downlload photos from my card on a reular basis. The choice is yours.
How Fast Do I Need?
SD cards come in different speeds, usually means a quicker high. What do you need? What does this mean?
Speed memoyr card dictates how quickly your camera will be able to save the image to its internal memory to mermory card SD. It also requires, how quickly you can upload pictures Off the SD mwemory card to your comuter after this (although theere are otehr faactors that affect that as well). Typically, larger image file (10-megapiixel camea can be more than 5mb is the size), the faster the card you want. The frst trip I took with my Nkion Coolpix 950 was a cruel, slow memory card, and my friend (he is the camera) was much faster card. We went to the caanoe and came across a moose feeding in a river. I got 3 photos of him (one to eat the weds, one with a view of terrorsm, because he saw us, and one of his escape). My friend got some amazing shots he was eating, some are shokced, and some of his escape. Huge diffeernce! Unfortunately, the savings on the sloewr card has cost me much more in this day in misssed opportunities.
So, once agani, you usally want to buy a fast memory card for cameras with hgiher megalpixels. It is a safe or a dish of extra cash for a quick map, or ask siomeone in the sytore, which is one for your cametra model.
Summary
You will have very few questions, if money is not object, but in times of today, we should be more careful with our mney. Sicne you suually do not get a second chance with a lost imaage (or a corrupt memory card), it is recommended to buy the best card woithin your budget. My recommendation? When you buy a cmera, try to barter the price down a bit, so you can afford a better card.
