Before going back to work, start by exploring all the many jobs for moms, your hidden talents and evaluating your needs, as well as old and newly acquired skills. This is the perfect time to consider a new direction, master new-found talents, and reach new levels of personal growth by investing in yourself and perhaps going into something that you're passionate about, but never found the time or opportunity to get into.
Fully explore your own personal situation and make a decision on which options would be realistic for you. Perhaps you want to change your career path because you were very young when you started your family and never really got into a career in the first place, or maybe you just don't feel as enthusiastic about your original career choice as you were before. Yet again, you may have loved what you did before and can't wait to get back into the game and add to an already impressive resume. Now that you have that figured out, do you want to work full time, part time, at home, in an office or do you need to head back to school to reach your goals.
For those moms who decide that if they must work it has to be from home, there has never been a better moment. Nowadays, with the internet and many other new technologies, there are many jobs for moms who want more flexible schedules in order to have more time with their children. Options range from making a product or sourcing one to sell on sites such as ebay, to running a daycare, yoga studio or landscaping business out of their homes, to telecommuting for a regular company job, to writing blogs, travel articles, children's books or even novels. Take your time and research the possibilities, because there are certainly jobs for moms of any walk of life out there, they just need to look.
If you wish to work outside of your home, look for possibilities that accommodate your needs; for example, some jobs offer babysitting or after school care. Start with schools near you; some may only require you to take a civil service exam. The hours working in a school, are advantageous to you because you and your children will have the same hours, holidays and vacation time. Working hours in hospitals are also flexible. Hospitals, as well as other organizations have volunteer programs, which are an excellent way to network and also find opportunities for future jobs. For moms, having a job is possible, just make sure you take time for yourself.
