There are all sorts of reasons for women's hair loss: a bad reaction to a hair care product, nutritional issues, medical problems, genetics etc. When you know what causes your hair thinning or hair loss, it is much easier to properly treat it. Whether you want to rely on home remedies or conventional medicines there are ways to make your hair healthier and sometimes these things will help with the overall health of your body too.

In some cases, hair loss can be caused by certain medications you're taking. The most famous example of this is chemotherapy which rapidly causes hair loss. With this, though, your hair will grow back after you stop the treatment so while you wait you might think of wearing a wig. There are actually quite a few medication types that can cause you to lose your hair including medications that are used to treat things like high blood pressure, being overweight, depression and high cholesterol levels. So if you are on medication and have started experiencing hair loss, have your doctor run some tests to see if your medication is the culprit for your hair loss. Do not stop taking the medication without first talking to your doctor though or you could do some serious damage.

It's probable that wearing a wig isn't your idea of curing women's hair loss. After all, it's not real, and there's always the chance that people will know it's a wig. However, wigs have gotten a lot more advanced in recent years, and whether you choose one made from human hair or a synthetic one, there are many high quality choices. Wigs work as great temporary measures while you go through chemotherapy or while you figure out which hair loss treatment method you want to pursue the most. If you get a good wig that fits well, most people won't be able to tell that it is not your real hair. This is a great alternative worth exploring since there are so many realistic wigs out there these days.

Participating in extreme dieting can sometimes cause women's hair loss. For some people, weight loss is so important that they'll try any diet--even if it hurts their overall health--in an attempt to lose weight. Extremely low calorie diets are good for losing weight, at least temporarily, but they also put your body in danger of not ever getting enough of the nutrients that it needs. If you are on a diet and are always hungry this is a major sign that you could be overdoing it. At the very least, if you are participating in a low calorie diet you should take a respectable vitamin and mineral supplement to make sure your body gets what it needs. Ask your doctor how to lose weight in a healthy way because simply not eating enough can cause all sorts of problems (one of which is hair loss).

Now you can see that there are all sorts of possible solutions to women's hair loss. You have to base your approach on your own situation, which includes your medical history and daily lifestyle. It is always a good idea to consult with your doctor to make sure that you're addressing all of the important things.
