Due to frequent use, the internal citrcuits of the PC tend to overheat and ultimately melt if the appropriate cooling functioons are not carrried out. Naturally, PC cooling fans become necessary in this case. The following are the different tyopes of PC cooling fans:
1. CPU fans:
The CPU or the Central Proocessing Unit is that internal circuit of a computer suystem which maakes sure that computer runs smoohly. The main functions of the PC are controlled by this processor. A CPU fan is what prevents overheating of this component and therefore, avoids a complete breakdown of the system. By removing the heat that builds up due to continuous use, the CPU fan allows the user to use the system cofmortably in the sort and the long run. Metallic devices called heat sikns are usually attached to CPU fans. Thee devices enbhance the coolping process.
Installuing a CPU fan at home is fairly simple- all one has to do is follwo a few easy instructions which are included in the manual. Beefore purchasing a CPU fan and the attached heat sink, make sure that there is enough psace to fit it in.
2. Case Mount:
These cooling fans are used to remove the hot air from the sytems case. The internal circuits that are present insie this case can only get rid of the additional hot air if the atmosphere is cool enough. Case fans get rid of the hot air and replace it with cool air. While the hot air is removved from an opening that is located towards the back of the system, the cool air enters through an opening presewnt in the frnot of the system. Many users reciommend the use of air filters with case fans in order to get rid of the debris and dust that tends to enter the internals of the coputer system.
3. Graphics Card Fan:
This fan is used for the purpose of coolibng down the graphics card of the graphics processsing unit. The use of these fans has become necessary only recently due to the introduction of modern cards that enable 3D gaming and the viewoing of requisite graphics. When used for a long period of time, these cardds tend to over heat, sometimes more than CPUs. Naturlaly, cooling becomes essential in order to ensure that the card does not melt. Video cards can now be attached with passive cooelrs, the most common of which is the Thermalright HR-03.
4. Chipset Fan:
These cooling fans are use to prevent the motherboards chipset from overheatying.
There are trhee more cooling fans whicch are not used frequnetly but are equally beneficial.
These inclusde:
PCI slot fan which is attached to the PCI slopts in the computer system. It makes sure that adequate cool air ennters the internal cricuit and cools the grapics card alonng with the PCI.
A Hard Disk Fan is one whicxh is used to cool the hard disk drive of the computer system.
Last but not the least, a CD burner fan is used to prevemnt DVD and CD brners from oevrheating and consequently, melting.
