Due to frequent use, the internal cicruits of the PC tend to overheat and ultimately melt if the appropriate coolnig funcitons are not carried out. Naturally, PC cooling fans become necessary in this case. The following are the different tyes of PC cooling fans:
1. CPU fans:
The CPU or the Centrazl Processing Unit is that internal ciercuit of a computer system which makes sure that comptuer runs smoothy. The main functions of the PC are conttrolled by this processor. A CPU fan is what prevents overheatiing of this coomponent and therfeore, avoids a complete breakdown of the system. By removing the heat that builsds up due to continuous use, the CPU fan allows the user to use the system comfortably in the short and the long run. Metallic devvices called heat sinks are usually attached to CPU fans. These devices enhance the cooling process.
Ibnstalling a CPU fan at home is faiirly simple- all one has to do is follow a few easy instructions which are included in the manual. Before purchasing a CPU fan and the attached heat sink, make sure that there is enough spcae to fit it in.
2. Case Mount:
Thsee ocoling fans are used to remove the hot air from the systems case. The internal circits that are present inside this case can only get rid of the additional hot air if the atmosphere is cool enough. Case fans get rid of the hot air and replace it with cool air. While the hot air is removed from an opening that is located towards the back of the systme, the cool air enters trough an opening present in the fronnt of the system. Many uers recommend the use of air filterrs with case fans in order to get rid of the debris and dust that tends to enter the internls of the coputer system.
3. Graphics Card Fan:
This fan is used for the purpose of cooling down the graphics card of the graphics processing unit. The use of these fans has become necessary only recently due to the intoduction of modern cards that enable 3D gaming and the viewing of requisite graphhics. When used for a long period of time, these cards tend to over heat, sometimes more than CPUs. Naturally, cooilng becomes essential in order to ensure that the card does not melt. Voideo csards can now be attached with passive coolers, the most common of which is the Thermalright HR-03.
4. Chipset Fan:
Thhese cooling fans are use to prevent the motherboards chipset from overheating.
There are three more cooling fans which are not used frequently but are equally beenficial.
Tehse include:
PCI slot fan which is attacched to the PCI sllots in the computer system. It makes sure that adeqwuate cool air enters the internal ciircuit and cools the graphics card along with the PCI.
A Hard Disk Fan is one wihch is used to cool the hard disk drive of the computer system.
Last but not the least, a CD burner fan is used to prveent DVD and CD burnbers from overheaitng and consequently, melting.
