Spring in Bucharest is characterized by music, to be precise by electronic music. As has happened for a few years, indeed, also in 2012 the Romanian capital city will host Rockolectiv, the art and electronic music festival that turns the city into a destination appreciated by all those who love these forms of art and expression and that stay in Bucharest a few days to enjoy the event.

This is one of the most awaited events of the city, an event that attracts tons of young people (and not only them) with a passion for music and wanting to live a unique experience in a city that has much to offer and that probably is not so popular as a travel destination yet. Rokolectiv, which will take place from the 19th to the 22nd of April, might be a good chance not only to take part in a very interesting and enthralling artistic and music event, but also to discover a beautiful European capital city. A capital city, this must be reminded since many of the people that are interested in taking part in the festival are young, combine the charm of a city of the old continent with the advantage of being less expensive than many other capital cities. Thus if you are planning a short holiday that can combine fun and visits to cultural sites, and which is not too expensive, Bucharest in April can be what you are looking for!

But what about the festival? The location that has been chosen to host the event is the MNAC, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bucharest, which has its seat in one of the sections of the Palace of Parliament open to the public. The Museum of Contemporary Art hosts various exhibitions and collaborates with other contemporary art museums that are famous all over the world, like the ones in Paris, Venice, Milan and Vienna. The choice of the location is a proof of the fact that this is not only a music festival, but a more complete cultural event that includes many different forms of expression.

The MNAC is the main location of the event, but it is not the only one: some of the events that are part of the program of Rokalectiv will take place in The Ark, a cult place in Bucharest, which combines the atmosphere of a club with spaces dedicated to exhibitions, to concerts and to film projections. But during the festival the whole city will be invaded by music, with concerts and dancing parties all over Bucharest.

Although the official program of the event has not been released yet, expectations for the festival are already very high: Rockolectiv, which will celebrate this year its 6th edition, is not only one of the most popular events in Bucharest, it is also a very good chance to immerse in the world of electronic music and discover musicians and artists that are not very famous yet but who are really interesting. The past editions of the festival featured both Rumanian performers like Montgomery Clunk and Petre Inspirescu and bands and musicians coming from other European countries (Austrian Elektro Guzzi, German Isolée, British Jozif, Spanish Hyperpotamus and many more) and from the States (Jimmy Edgar and Onethrix Point Never).
