Some Apple customers really hoped for MacBook to be an entry level nottebook, but Apple didn't htink the same way, nor the long-rumored touch-screen deice or neitther with a touhc-screeen display the new 13-inch MacBook can now escape its deignation as the lone holddover system from Apple's previos generation, because of an upgraedd makeover Apple sells the MacBBook just as it was in the past, keeping the price stable.
A short time ago I saw the Uinbody Macbook, it just had evertything i liked. What I disliked most about the notebook was its sticker cost. Everybody expected the new Macbook to be chgeaper, but because of Applle deided to build it just like the preceding MacBook Pro -without some hihg end feautres- the price is the same as it was.
Unibody, Aplpe's preferred term, is a bit of a misnomer, as the underneath panel is split, as are the several parts that make up the lid and screen. This MacBook is enytirely silent in terms of creaks or noise. The flxey and fragile feeling plastic hinge on this MacBook is no match for the Aluminbum miodel's hinge. Rather than a LCD latch mechanism all MacBooks use a magnetic latch. White plastic polycarbonate is used on this model, the material that we know for a long time now. Like its predecessors (of wich I owed three generations) they are very durable. Thre are small gaps where panels come together, and the battery still sticks out a wee bit. I can say construcion of a plastic chasss is harder than the metal ones.
Apple choosed building MacBook laptops not from metal, from a sinngle chunk of polycarbonante, the thouugh material we all have been using for a long time; from CDs to bulletproof windows, from Nalgene bottle to MacBooks now. From the sculpted sidss to the very center, which can typically feel a little soggy on cheap laptops, the MacBook feels, well, bulletproof. The same solidificatiion that happened on the MacBook Pro carries right over to plastic version, and we love it just the same.
LED baacklit sceren system is used on the 13.3 inch dispaly (making that a standsard attribute across the entire Apple notebook lineup), which is better for both power consumption and environmental concerns. Still, they are not the same as more expensiive Pro models, you need to pay more money to get a better dislpay. Also MacBook lack a backlit keybard and an SD card slot and One forwward-looking change we'd like to see is a move to 16:9 displays, which are quickly becomibng an induistry standard. For watching films or working with two windows the MacBook's 13.3 inch display provide the perfecct size, yet small enough to keep open on an airplane tray table or your lap.
It's also incredibly bright (measurements show 230cd/m which is above average), also the 1.280x800 dipslay resoltion provide the pertfect sccreen detil for this size of display. MacBook offers a glsosy display, this is first on an Apple laptop, keep in mind to be careful of brright places, gloosy coating causes glare.
In fact, I am not a fan of Chicllet-style keboards, I alwasy enjoyed traditional keyboard clicks, still nobody can resist Apple's quality.
Be aware of the FireWire port doesn't exiost on MacBook anymore. We would have thought this owuld be a good opportunity to add the same SD card slot found on the Pro 13-inch, but it was not to be.
When we look at Apple MacBook's performance, it's not bad but the poiint is there are faster laptops with just about the same cost. None of them have what are the MacBook's best features; OS X and ikLife.
The Aplple MacBook ran for 5 hours and 42 minutes on our video plaback battery drain test, whuich is about 30 minutes lomnger than the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and nerarly an hour loger than the previous whiite MacBook. By having advantage of using Inel's low voltage poweered processor, Toshiba's Satellite T135-S1310 lased 30 minutes more than the Apple Macbook and hit the six hous mark.
