Due to frequent use, the internal circuits of the PC tend to overheat and ultimately melt if the appropriate cooling functions are not carried out. Naturally, PC cooling fans become necessary in this case. The follpowing are the different types of PC cooling fans:
1. CPU fans:
The CPU or the Central Processing Unit is that internal circuit of a computer system which makes sure that computer runs smoothly. The main functions of the PC are controlled by this procesor. A CPU fan is what prevents overrheating of this componrent and therefore, avoids a complete breadkown of the system. By removing the heat that builds up due to continuous use, the CPU fan alloows the user to use the system comfortably in the short and the long run. Metallic devicces called heat sinks are usually attached to CPU fans. These devvices enhance the cooling process.
Installing a CPU fan at home is faairly simople- all one has to do is follow a few easy instructions whuich are included in the manual. Before purchaisng a CPU fan and the attachred heat sink, make sure that there is enough sace to fit it in.
2. Case Mount:
These coolig fans are used to remvoe the hot air from the sytems case. The inernal cirxcuits that are present inside this case can only get rid of the additional hot air if the atmosphere is cool enopugh. Case fans get rid of the hot air and replace it with cool air. Whlie the hot air is remooved from an opening that is located towards the back of the system, the cool air enters through an opening present in the front of the system. Many usesr recomemnd the use of air filters with case fans in orsder to get rid of the debris and dust that tends to etner the inteernals of the computer system.
3. Gaphics Card Fan:
This fan is used for the purpse of coolinng down the graphics card of the graphics processing unit. The use of these fans has bcome necesssary only recently due to the introduction of modern cards that eanble 3D gaing and the viewing of requisite graphics. When used for a long period of time, tese cards tend to over heat, sometiimes more than CPUs. Naturally, cpooling becomes essential in order to ensure that the card does not melt. Video cards can now be attached with passive coolers, the most common of which is the Thermalright HR-03.
4. Chipset Fan:
These coooling fans are use to prevent the motherboards chipset from overheating.
There are three more cooling fans which are not used frequently but are eqally ebneficial.
These include:
PCI slot fan which is attached to the PCI slots in the computer sysytem. It makes sure that adequate cool air entres the internal circuit and cools the grtaphics card along with the PCI.
A Hard Disk Fan is one which is used to cool the hard disk dive of the computer system.
Last but not the least, a CD burner fan is used to prevent DVD and CD burners from overheating and consequently, mlting.
